This is one of a number of sample adult coloring pages which are currently being offered for download free of charge.
This sample consists of two US Letter (8.5″ x 11″) sized downloadable PDFs – a black and white outline for coloring and an example of a colored picture. While you may of course simply copy the colored picture, this is not the intention and the colored version is merely included to give you some ideas for color selection if you get stuck. For best results you should let your imagination go and choose your own color scheme.
One important element when it comes to coloring is your choice of paper stock and, if you are new to coloring, the wrong selection can result in a poor coloring experience and a less than satisfactory finished image.
If you are new to the world of adult coloring, below are some thoughts on choosing the best paper. In all cases the paper recommended is suitable for use in most reasonably good quality home color printers.
Best value paper for use with colored pencils. For
colored pencils (and indeed other dry media such as chalk pencils, crayons and
pastels) a light cardstock is a good choice and one of the best, in terms of value for money, is a
65lb Neenah Bright White Cardstock. This cardstock, while not identical, is very similar to the paper quality used by CreateSpace for printing adult coloring books. It is important to note that this paper is only suitable for dry media and that this does not include markers, which will bleed into the paper causing it to buckle.
Best quality paper for use with colored pencils. Another excellent cardstock for use with colored pencils comes from the same manufacturer and is a
110lb index card stock. This is an excellent choice if you want to use some advanced techniques with coloring pencils, such as blending or their use with solvents. This paper can also be used with limited wet media, such as gel pens and some markers. You might also like to try it with watercolor pencils as long as you use only the very minimum of water required.
Best quality paper for use with Copic markers. If you wish to use premium alcohol-based markers, such as
Copic markers,
Prismacolor markers and similar brands then you will need to look for a smooth, non-coated and thick cardstock such as
110lb Classic Crest Cardstock. This is the favored choice of many artists and card makers.
Best quality paper for use with watercolors. If you wish to use watercolors, or watercolor pencils, then you really need to choose a paper like the
140lb Canson XL Series Watercolor Textured Paper, which is specifically designed for the purpose. Watercolor paper is thick and, in most cases, your printer will need to have a flat feed to print on watercolor stock. It should be noted that the paper recommended here is 9″ x 12″ in size and so, if your printer will not accept paper that is this size, you may need to cut it down to letter size.
UNIQUE Items:
From time to time we offer UNIQUE products for download. These are clearly marked as being UNIQUE and are sold on a ‘first come’ basis. Only ONE copy of the product will be sold. If you purchase a UNIQUE item from this site then there are NO RESTRICTIONS on its use.
If you are creating a physical product you may:
- Download a design and print or transfer it onto a physical item, with or without modification, and sell that physical item.
- You may sell an unlimited number of physical items that you create using a design you download.
- Physical items created using a design you download can be sold worldwide without any limitation on the time for which they may be sold, or on the number of items which may be sold.
- Physical items created using a design you download may be given away free of charge to friends or for promotional purposes.
If you are creating a digital product you may:
- Use the individual elements of a downloaded package to create a new design. For example, you can combine several individual floral elements to create a design for a wedding invitation. Similarly, you can use individual elements together with items of your own to create a new design. In all cases the finished digital product must be flattened so that the purchaser cannot extract individual items.
If you are creating a print on demand (POD) product you may:
- Create and upload designs to POD services with, or without, alteration. It is however recommended that you do make some modification to your downloaded images simply to prevent identical designs appearing in the market.
- POD designs may be marketed worldwide without any limitation on the time for which they may be sold, or on the number of items which may be sold.

If you are creating a physical product you may not:
- Include a digital copy of a design you download, whether modified or not, with your physical product.
If you are creating a digital product you may not:
- Create a digital product that is in competition with the downloaded product. For example, you cannot create a new product simply by using images from one or more downloaded packages which have not been altered, or which have only minor alterations such as a change in color, size or format (e.g. converting PNG images to JPG or PDF).
- Create a digital product using single downloaded elements.
- Create a digital product in a format which allows the end user to extract the elements used to create the product. In other words, all designs must be flattened.
If you are creating a print on demand (POD) product you may not:
- Make your digital design files available for download. Your digital design files may only be provided to POS services for the sole purpose of creating products for you.
